Violence against women and children is a deadly crime, a social menace, and a costly public health problem. Community leaders and legislators continue to search for workable––and affordable––policies to curb the violence and heal the wounds.
This violence can explode anywhere, anytime, and within any economic class.

Millennium Development Goals
With five years remaining to achieve the targets of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has made it clear that a concerted, multilateral effort to save the lives of over 16 million women and children, and improve the livelihoods of women and girls, will be the focus. AWWA is looking into the challenges and opportunities that lie on this 5 year journey and beyond.
